We are starting to produce MP4 versions of many of the videos available for download from the Bondage Warehouse. We are starting with the original short story videos, and will be converting the Scenes from the full-length videos. When you purchase a video that has an MP4 version available, there will be an option button to select the MP4 version or the WMV version.
We chose to use the MP4 format over the M4V format because the M4V requires the use of iTunes, which can load very slowly on some systems, while MP4 plays in QuickTime or almost any other video player you already have installed. The MP4 versions are also somewhat smaller than the WMV versions, so they may be easier to download for those with wireless or slower connections.
That’s actually why we are starting to do these – some people are having trouble with watching the WMVs on their iEquipment and the MP4 is pretty much a universal format. We are going to continue to put out the WMVs because they are better quality and can be watched on almost any computer, but depending on your mobile unit or tablet, the MP4 may be more easily viewable on those devices.
I can’t say we will never change formats – who knows what future technology will bring – but the idea is to make things easier for our customers!
This is a good idea. Just don’t do what another company did. They started with MP4 and then later changed to Mov files, which needed to be converted to play on the iPod. A real hassle for folks with older computers.
