In a comment on the May 29 new photo update blog entry, someone remarked about how infrequently our black models get any positive feedback. This is something we noticed a while back, but the remark still got us to thinking. Many years ago (>10), black models were hugely popular, which is one the reasons we did so many black model themed videos (IS10, IS28, IS37, IS43, IS57). All these videos sold well and we specifically sought out black models to work with. Then, starting about 5 or 6 years ago, black models suddenly started getting less popular, even though we were working with some amazingly beautiful and personable black women (e.g., Augusta Jones, Misherlae Raines, Sabrina Hernandez). Sabrina, in particular, is one of the best models we have worked with. In the last year or two, the interest in black models has disappeared entirely, despite us continuing to work with some fantastic ethnic ladies such as Cody Blue and more recently Josephine Marloe. Josephine’s perfect body and amazing sex appeal is beyond compare, but she gets almost no feedback and her videos do not sell anywhere near the level of those featuring white models. This is something we find utterly amazing as Josephine is just flat out stunning. When we post our update previews, comments about the black models are almost non-existent. As the commentor noted, the lack of any positive feedback is almost absurd. It is almost as if people go out of their way to ignore them. In fact, response to black models has gotten so cold that we recently decided to stop working with them for the time being. We have recently turned down the opportunity to work with some very attractive black women, and as much as we would love to bring Josephine or Cody back, there really is no benefit in doing so. So all this makes us wonder – where did the love for black models go? And more importantly, will it ever come back?

Actually, Cody and Josephine are two of my favorites. They’re both gorgeous. I prefer models who will pose/act topless. I’m particularly fond of hard nipples showing through thin tops. As a friend once commented, “No two guys into bondage like the same thing.”
admvs makes a good point. I’m a little picky when it comes to the gag also, as well as the outfit. I’ve always been partial to black models in tapegags and business attire. Don’t know about everyone else though.
I love the black models on the website! Me buying a video has way more to do with the gag (I prefer gags with mouth stuffing) rather than the color of a model’s skin. It just seems to me that the black models on the site rarely get the types of gags that I prefer. If this changed, I would definitely be buying more videos.
You are not the only one, but apparently you are in a shrinking group. Cody has not been back for several reasons. Previously you stated you did not want the stockings back because there was nothing you could do with them. We can send them back, but please note they are now all used and mixed in with our other stockings/pantyhose – they may take a while to find.
We wish there were more who did the same.
Cody was one of the most energenic and personable girls we ever worked with, which is why her BTS videos were so good. She was a total blast to work with.
We stopped shooting custom videos many years ago. Doing them simply became an unpleasant experience. There is too much stress involved in trying to capture someone’s else’s fantasy and most requests were far too complex and detailed to attempt. And those willing to pay the very high cost of a custom video usually had very specific interests/tastes that are not shared by many others. They often can’t find what they really like, which is why they are willing to pay for custom work. That meant that the finished video rarely sold very well, so unless you charged and arm and a leg to do them, it wasn’t worth the huge amount of time and effort it took to shoot one.
I for one first became a fan of this site specifically because it was one of the few that featured black models, and have made it a point to purchase nearly every video featuring them (not photo sets, though. Not because of the models, I just generally stick to video). Have you considered perhaps doing custom videos? This way those who would definitely purchase vids of black models could specifically request them, and you know you’ll get a return on your investment that way.
Cody f.i. is a fantastic model with lot of energy and of course a great look! Her BTS videos are great! I especially like the one from her third visit, where she is on the bed to watch her own video, but ended up thoroughly hogtied, ball-gagged and spanked! A true classic! 🙂
Virtually all of the DVDs, photo sets, and video downloads I have purchased from Imago were purchased because they feature Black models. This is how I “show the love”

@Aldo – It is not an accusation, purely a statement of fact. And we are obviously not alone in our observation. Your statement simply does not add up given the numbers and variety of models, photo sets and videos involved and the extended time period over which this has occurred. But of course we fully realize everyone has their particular likes and dislikes. Our audience apparently isn’t into black models. The same statement could be made concerning models with a more “modern” look (as we have also stated before). There is no value judgement associated with our observation unless you are attaching one. As we stated, what perplexes us is the fact that they were once relatively popular and now they are not. Also interesting is the fact that the exact same videos featuring black models sell better on clips4sale than they do on our site (and for significantly more $ over there).
Here’s a thought. Maybe the members and/or buyers just weren’t crazy about those particular photo sets or videos. Period. Doesn’t matter if the models are black or white, if the people don’t like what you’re selling, they ain’t buying. All of us here share a common bond (no pun intended), and for you to say “It is almost as if people go out of their way to ignore them” is a pretty harsh accusation.

@Steve – Yes, you are correct. Complimentary comments now are nice, but meaningless. Sales are what matter. We sincerely hope at some point in the future things change. One interesting thing we did not mention is that videos featuring black models do sell OK on clips4sale. Apparently, that audience is different (or maybe just larger and more diverse).

@Stephen – We think you missed the point of the blog entry. Black models do not sell. Why would we continued making videos that do not sell? As for photo sets in the members’ area, we have worked with so many black models in the past that we still have plenty of material to use for quite some time.

I totally agree I love black models very few web sites offer them ! One of the reason join this web site . Is that they offer black models ! I love seeing black model tie up with white rope and tightly cleave gagged with a white cloth! In sexy mini dress and secretary outfit with tan stocking feet only ! You need to do videos and photos sets like this !!!
The too-little-too-late comments, while encouraging, apparently don’t reflect the bottom line, which is of course what has to drive your business decisions. Troubling for us and our fantasies. Ray and Dianne, it was something you first said about the discrepancy that made me aware of it, and ever since I’ve noticed how, if there were 3 models in an update–two white, one black–the two white models would be complimented, and nothing said of the third. No one’s fault, just Internet commenters with tunnel vision, dashing off their blurbs before moving on to a thousand other opinions on a thousand other message boards, I imagine. Well, we can only hope the trend reverses, and that your loyal followers are more vocal in the future. Do give our regards to the beautiful and fun ladies of color who work with you. Thanks.

Well I have always had and always will have love for black models! I consider Josephine, Cody or Sabrina to be in your TOP 10 of models. Admitteldly I don’t comment so much on your blog, so my love may go unnoticed, but I for one hope that you continue to work with those models – or other black girls for that matter.
I did buy your last black model DVD (IS 143) exactly for that reason and also every Bondage Warehouse Video with black models (okay, I bought every Bondage Warehouse Video, but let’s not get picky…).
